Happiness Potential
Why you have to fight everyday to stay optimistic
Every day isn’t a happy day. Every day isn’t a shitty day. The power I have is that I stay grateful…even if it is for tiny things today.
I am grateful I have clean water to drink. So many people don’t have clean water.
I am grateful I have a flushing toilet. Especially since I lived in the Amazon rain forest for 3 months and know what it is like to NOT have a toilet AT ALL for months. Seriously.
I am so fucking grateful for my dogs. They love me. They make me laugh. They love each other and that makes my heart swell up with good feelings.
I am grateful all of my family members live several states away from me. I miss them once in a while, but I can always call them or go visit at some point. Usually, I don’t feel like it. I am healthier, and so much happier, with them being away from me. Permanently.

To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.

Kurt Vonnegut
Thinking positively about one’s partner is another common element of couples intensely in love, according to the findings. When people see each other every day, they can sometimes take each other for granted and stop noticing the characteristics they used to appreciate about their mate. However, a little awareness and gratitude may go a long way in countering this tendency. When we get to know someone well, we naturally learn about both their strengths and their weaknesses but it is really up to us whether we choose to focus one side or the other. By focusing on what we appreciate and admire in our partner and being grateful for the value and gifts that our partner brings into our lives, we cannot but think positively and may feel more intense love as a consequence.
